Available national screening strategies in Singapore:

  • Screening for Colorectal cancer: Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit is a recommended screening test for both men and women above the age of 50. This test is available in a simple kit and can be conducted in your own home. Singapore Cancer Society distributes these kits to eligible Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, without charge. It is recommended to do this test once a year. Click here to find out if you are eligible for the screening.
  • Screening for Breast Cancer: Mammograms are widely accepted and are beneficial for women who are above the age of 50. This screening tool can detect the presence of cancerous lumps before their presence can be felt with the hand. Singapore Cancer Society is currently running a number of  mammogram screening programmes. Please check your eligibility for the programmes provided.
  • Screening for Cervical Cancer: The pap test and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) test are commonly used for screening. The pap test is the best screening tool available for the early detection of cervical cancer for women who are aged 25 to 29. The HPV test analyses small amounts of cells which was taken via pap smear and is used to detect the presence of the human papillomavirus which can cause genital warts, adnormal cervical cells or cervical cancer. Singapore Cancer Society does provide the screenings. However, there are terms and conditions applied to the screenings. Click the Pap Test or the HPV test to find out if you are eligible to the screenings.
