Singapore Cancer Society organised the inaugural Relay for Life (RFL) in Singapore. The event brought the community together to Celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, Remember those lost to the disease and Fight Back against a disease that has taken so much.

2016: Official Opening of SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre

Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, officially opens SCS Cancer Rehabilitation Centre located at level 8 Jem Office Tower. This is Singapore’s first community-based cancer rehabilitation centre, providing convenient access to integrated, person-centred and holistic rehabilitative care tailored to the specific needs of cancer patients and survivors.

The Hope 50 Concert capped off a year of celebrations with Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, gracing the event as our Guest of Honour.

2015: Mammogram Facility Official Opening

Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health, officially opens the new mammogram facility at the SCS Multi-Service Centre. SCS provides mammograms, without charge, to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents above the age of 50 who hold a valid Health Assist card (orange or blue).

2014: Launch of 50th anniversary celebration

2014 was a milestone for the Singapore Cancer Society as we celebrated 50 years of Minimising Cancer and Maximising Life in Singapore. The journey may have begun 5 decades ago but with each succeeding generation, our mission has been passed on and carried forward in an unbroken line of service.

2013

To bring our services into the heartlands, the SCS Multi-Service Centre began operations in Bishan at the Junction 8 Office Tower in June. The centre provides cancer screening, cancer support, and welfare services in an effort to make these more accessible to the heartlands.

2010

June marked the launch of the first Ovarian Cancer Awareness Campaign, which was jointly organised by the Singapore Cancer Society, the National University Cancer Institute Singapore, the National Cancer Centre Singapore, the Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The first Pink Ribbon Hi-Tea and Pink Ribbon Party were organised during the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer in a fun and informative way.

The inaugural Race Against Cancer (RAC) was launched. The SCS Help the Children and Youth Programme was also set up to support children and youth whose lives have been affected by cancer.

The Society launched its first Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, which was held at the HDB Hub, Toa Payoh.

Themed “Hope for Tomorrow – a Little Compassion Goes a Long Way,” the second Cancer Charity Show was organised to raise funds in support of the Society’s programmes and services
