Welfare Financial Aid Funding Programme

The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) has been providing financial assistance and free transportation to needy cancer-stricken patients since 1967. The Welfare Financial Aid Funding Programme is a temporary financial scheme set up with the objective to provide financial assistance and/or medical supplies to enhance the well-being of needy cancer patients.

This programme helps to:

  • Supplement the patients’ low family income,
  • Fund medical supplements such as milk feeds and colostomy bags.

Patients are referred by Medical Social workers from hospitals, hospices and nursing homes. Application and approval process for welfare aid cases is subject to an eligibility criteria and a financial assessment, which is reviewed by a Welfare Aid Committee.
