How to do Breast Self Examination (BSE)

1. |
Stand in front of a mirror and raise one arm above the head. Inspect the breast and nipple for any changes. |

2. |
Lie down and systematically examine the breast with the tips of the fingers to feel for any hard lumps. |
 |
3. |
Squeeze the nipple to look for discharge and examine the armpit for any lymph gland swelling |
Who should go for breast examination?
Based on our government's guidelines for breast screening:
| 40 years and below |
- Monthly Breast Self-Examination
- Clinical Breast Examination yearly

40 to 49 years |
- Monthly Breast Self-Examination
- Clinical Breast Examination yearly
- Mammogram yearly
|
50 years and above |
- Monthly Breast Self-Examination
- Clinical Breast Examination yearly
- Mammogram every 2 years
