To confirm the diagnosis, a series of investigations that include:
- Blood Test for AFP. This tumour market is often raised in liver cancer patients.
- Ultrasound Scan, CT Scans and MRI Scans. These are used to confirm the presence and extent of liver cancer.
- Angiography. It is a test to study the blood flow to liver cancer and often performed to study the operability of the cancer.
- Biopsy of the HCC. A piece of the cancer is obtained for microscopic examination to confirm the cancer.
