The
SHF Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre runs a structured
community based cardiac rehabilitation/heart wellness
programme. The Centre offers a wide range of facilities,
equipment and multidisciplinary healthcare expertise
to assist people at risk of developing heart disease.
Heart
Wellness includes exercise, education, counselling
and support, and learning new ways to live a healthier
life.
Who
Can Benefit?
You can benefit from cardiac rehabilitation if
you have:

Heart
disease, such as angina or heart failure |
|
Previously
had a heart attack |
|
A
chronic heart problem |
|
Undergone
cardiac procedures such as coronary bypass
surgery, 'balloon' angioplasty, valve replacement
and stenting |
|
An
implanted defibrillator |
|
Had
a heart transplant |
You
can also benefit from cardiac rehabilitation if
you are at risk of developing heart disease
Your
Team
Your cardiac rehabilitation team includes doctor
(your family doctor or your heart specialist),
nurse, exercise specialist/fitness instructor,
physiotherapist, dietician, psychologist, pharmacist
and your family.
The most important member of the team will however
be YOU. No one else can make you exercise, or
quit smoking, or have a healthy diet.
Your
Exercise Programme
Our
team of specialists will design an individualised
exercise programme based on your personal needs
and abilities to help you improve your cardiovascular
strength. Your exercise sessions will include:

Warm-up
and cool- down stretching |

Aerobic
exercise |
|
Resistance
training |
You
will be given a Log Book to record your exercise
routine.
You may choose from one of the following exercise
sessions:
Other
Services
In order to provide you and your family with the
motivation and support needed to adjust to lifestyle
changes, the SHF Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre
will also conduct educational seminars on topics
related to heart attack, medication, exercise,
stress and nutrition.

Your
Fee
Each participant will be charged a nominal fee.
Participants with limited resources who wish to
join the SHF Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre can
approach the SHF for subsidy or financial assistance.
