The logo design was derived and remodeled from the Caduceus symbol, a winged-staff carried by the Greek God, Hermes. Commonly used in the medical profession, the two serpents intertwined around the staff forms a double helix, which is likened to the shape of the human DNA, symbolising creation and life. The two serpents are also interpreted as representing the advancement of medicine, and the field of research. Together with the staff, they battle the on-going war against cancer.
