  Profile

The Singapore Cancer Society was established in 1964 by individuals from Rotary Club of Singapore, the Lions Club and Jaycees.

It was inaugurated by Mr Yong Nyuk Lin, the then Minister of Health.

In 1967, it set up a temporary office at the Cancer Information Centre, Department of Pathology, Singapore General Hospital.

In 1975, the premise was moved to Peace Centre and continued to operate until 1980 when the Society relocated to its premises to 15 Enggor Street, #04-01/04 Realty Centre.

It registered as a Society in 1984 (UEN S65SS0033F), and in 1995 obtained IPC status as a charity.

The Society does not receive funding from the Community Chest or the National Council of Social Service. It is dependent on public donations to provide quality services to cancer patients, their families and the public. It organizes various fund-raising activities throughout the year and looks forward to public support.
